Around the Corner--Full STEAM Ahead!

Hope you've had a great summer.  As we see it wind to a close I am, as usual, excited about what's coming up.  RNE became a STEAM school this summer--meaning that we are going to make our school focus Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.  Of course you know I'm going to be in the thick of things; can I ever NOT be in the midst of it all?!

I'm working hard on an Engineering class for our STEAM time.  That's a dedicated 45 minutes daily to a single class that is in the STEAM focus.  Some teachers are teaching about gardening, others are building bridges, some are working on recycling projects and art made from recycled things.  Everybody has their own spin to the STEAM concept, and every class is focusing on the Project Based Learning method.  It's fun to see what everybody's getting together.  Me, I'm going to have my students designing cars, building kites, seeing if they can change the speed of marbles moving through a maze, and using motors to make robots.  Can't wait to see it all come about.  I'll keep you posted!

  1. I've been informed that the specialists will be in charge of something similar to this, but haven't been told any of the details yet. Looking forward to finding out more - I may be contacting you for advice!
