Back in the Swing of Things

Here we are, back at school!  I'm happy to see all the smiling faces and I just can't wait to get into the good stuff.  Going over the rules is necessary so this first week of school is rules week....Hang in there, students, learning and doing is about to start and it's going to be a blast.  The Art classroom is ready for you, and we are going to rock this school year.

A nod needs to go to Julie Gallow, an Art teacher in Texas, who has a teaching philosophy much like my own.  I've borrowed from her and a couple of other teachers to bring some new ways of doing some things in my classroom, and I'm very excited about the direction in which we will be moving.  Art is such a great way for students to learn critical thinking and problem solving.  All of our artists are smart artists!  So we are adopting the smART class as our moniker, and we are going to be forging ahead as smART Artists, learning, growing, and creating in so many new ways.

This year is going to be one of discovery and creativity--what a great start already!  Be on the lookout--there's more to come, and we are going to maximize our time together.  Welcome back, students!
